Overview
This is a self-directed concept, not commissioned work. We rebuilt the site of a real industrial control panel manufacturer to show how we approach a technical B2B audience — and to have something concrete to point at rather than a list of services.
Industrial buyers are not persuaded by adjectives. They are specifying a panel against a standard, and they are trying to work out whether you will hit the date. The whole concept is organised around answering those two questions faster than a competitor can.
The challenge
We reviewed twelve competitors in the sector, from Johnson Controls down to regional panel shops. Every one of them led with something concrete: panels built per year, projects completed, years in business, or a lead time in the hero. The site we were redesigning published none of it.
It also had no client logos, no testimonials, no case studies, and no certification marks on the page — only the words. For a buyer comparing three shops on a Tuesday afternoon, there was nothing to weigh.
The deeper problem was that the genuinely strong material — two dozen technical articles on UL 508A, SCCR and NEC Article 409 — was buried, undated and unattributed, doing none of the work it could have done.
What we did
The site leads with the assembly rather than the company. An interactive cutaway of a control panel interior lets a visitor click through the main disconnect, short-circuit coordination, wire sizing, thermal design and UL label placement, with a short technical explanation at each point. It demonstrates competence instead of asserting it, and no competitor in the review had anything like it.
A self-serve panel estimator asks eight questions and returns a complexity tier and indicative schedule. It deliberately does not return a price — pricing a control panel from eight answers is a guess dressed up as a number, and an engineer who later gets a different figure stops trusting everything else on the site. It captures the buyer who is not ready to phone anyone.
Every specification, standard and figure is set in a monospace face, so the parts an engineer reads as data look like data. Standards are cited by number throughout, and the FAQ answers the questions people actually search — UL 508A versus NFPA 79, what SCCR is, who may apply a label.
Because it is a concept, unverified figures are handled honestly rather than invented: sample values are visibly marked as samples, and a single flag turns every one of them back into a placeholder that cannot ship by accident.
