Overview
Most churches end up with a website and a separate app, maintained by different people, saying slightly different things. Kingdom Churches is one system: the public pages and the members area share the same content, the same roles, and the same permissions.
It runs a live congregation today, in English and Spanish throughout.
The challenge
A church has more distinct roles than most small organizations — members, group leaders, pastors, administrators — and each needs a genuinely different view. Hiding a button is not access control.
Much of the content is sensitive. A prayer request, a private group conversation, and someone’s testimony each have a different audience, and getting that wrong is not a cosmetic bug.
What we did
Permissions are enforced in the database itself, so a request that forgets its filter still cannot read another church’s data. Every role boundary is tested from both sides: what a role can see, and what it must not.
Publishing a testimony requires recorded consent from the person who gave it. That is a modelled requirement, not a checklist item someone remembers.
The public site, the members area, and the scripture reader are bilingual end to end rather than translated at the edges.
